If you’re wondering how we decide the rankings for each of the city articles, you’ve come to the right place!

Everything we do to create our rankings system is based on quality data that we collect from various parts of the web. We use well-known tools to pull data in from around the internet and give us an overall ranking score.

Once we have all of the data, we then read through and manually compare every data point, ensuring accuracy and adding a human element to the process. Finally, once all the data has been compiled and reviewed, we manually review our findings and create our lists.

Outside of becoming a Featured Brewery, here are the top 5 ways that you can improve your overall rankings on our website!


1. Collect positive online reviews

Collecting positive online reviews is the ultimate way to show your audience that your Brewery is THE place to be! As part of our ranking matrix, we look at many online review platforms such as Google My Business, Beer Rater, Untapped, Facebook, Beer Advocate, Just Beer and a few more. Our list of platforms gets reviewed every year for quality assurance and to ensure the platform itself is still relevant to the industry.

Why it’s important: Online reviews are important because it’s the one place your customers can give an unfiltered review of their experience with your brewery

What to do: Get more positive reviews across all platforms


2. Be active on social media platforms

Craft beer enthusiasts love to follow and engage with breweries online. Be it finding out what new seasonals are available, or tagging their recent brew, if you’re not engaging with your audience then you’re not giving them the best possible experience.

When you add a link on your website to our “Best Breweries” articles, you’re telling the world that you’ve made our Best Breweries list! This little backlink is a great signal for Google and will help more people see the recognition our website is giving you!

Why it’s important: A backlink from your website helps promote the brewery

What to do: Add a link on any page of your website that says something like “We are super excited that we made the Best Toronto Breweries list” and then contact us to let us know it’s been added. We’ll check the link and add it to your brewery’s overall ranking matrix.


5. Improve your overall website Domain Authority

Domain Authority (DA) is a search engine ranking score that predicts how likely a website is to rank in search engine result pages. The higher a page ranks in search results, the more Google trusts that the content that the website creates (across all platforms, websites, etc) is what the people searching want. Simply put, the higher your DA, the more Google sees that the content you’re putting online (anywhere online) is quality and trustworthy.

Why it’s important: Unfortunately, it’s impossible for us to visit every brewery and give a non-biased opinion of that brewery. So, in Google we for part of our overall ranking factor.
